A Great Option When You Need a Full Denture
Sometimes, there really is just no good alternative to dentures. If you are missing all of your teeth, a full set of dental implants may not be realistic. A good compromise to fully removable dentures is to do an overdenture with dental implants.

Simply put, an overdenture is placed over surgically implanted root forms, with the root forms acting as anchors to hold the overdenture in place. As you might imagine, there are different techniques to placing an overdenture, and the hardware involved will vary from dentist to dentist.
"Anchoring" the dentures in this way helps alleviate some of the problems inherent to dentures, such as difficulty keeping them in place while eating or speaking, or soreness of the gums from constant shifting and rubbing. Another benefit to this technique is that the implanted root forms help slow or even stop the re-absorption of the jaw bones that happens when you lose your teeth. Over time, this re-absorption can lead to facial collapse, making it difficult or impossible for you to wear any sort of denture at all.
Overdentures with dental implants are a great choice to help prevent facial collapse and provide you with comfortable, stable dentures.
